Asimov’s most famous work is the Foundation Series; his other major series are the Galactic Empire series and the Robot series, both of which he later tied into the same fictional universe as the Foundation Series to create a unified “future history” for his stories much like those pioneered by Robert A.
He certainly gives the impression that he is very knowledgeable about science and what it’s like being a scientist. This short story collection was a mixed bag, and not up to Asimov’s usual standards. This one’s a nice collection of science fiction mysteries, written by Dr. The more mediocre stories were partially redeemed by the colorful Wendell Urth who was often consulted by detectives to make sense of shards of evidence.
Back in the late s, this was finally explained to me. In a fifth story in the collection, The Dust of Death, Asimov shows Davenport a generosity that Conan Doyle never extended to Lestrade in demonstrating the former’s ability to solve a case for himself without outside assistance. The book didn’t “blow me out of my socks,” but it was a landmark of its era, and writers in this now burgeoning genre who want to examine their roots and maybe get some pointers could do worse than spend a few evenings with this gem.

Asimov’s Mysteries by Isaac Asimov
I was debating between a 4 and 5, but that ending was a winner. Urth is eccentric in that he has a phobia of all mech. Most of Asimov’s popularized science books explain scientific concepts in a historical way, going as far back as possible to a time when the science in question was at its simplest stage. The stories are more or less very simple in their structure. And I ended up liking Urth quite a lot. Wendell Urth who is quite a unique character sketch.
Seton Davenport who while isaac pragmatic and duty bound cannot help but being a baffled albeit pale shade of Dr. Professor Asimov is generally considered one of the most prolific writers of all time, having written or edited more than books and an estimated 90, letters and postcards. Armonkosa is not so good at developing living and breathing characters. This book collects together his best mystery short stories, the greater part of which have an SF ccampana.
Some of them have dated a bit, but the science and its application stand up to modern scrutiny. He then set about proving it in a series of engaging stories, written for the anthology magazines of the day, between and As a result, some of the stories are probably not atmoniosa feasible, but it doesn’t really detract from the stories for me.

And yet science fiction writers seemed to be inhibited in the face of the science campanaa mystery. A worthwhile read for fans of the master.
